In 1991, the cyberfeminist art collective VNS Matrix declared that “the clitoris is a direct line to the matrix,” claiming the world wide web as a site of feminist liberation. Twenty-four years later, where are we now with the internet?

For this event Zach Blas and Laurel Ptak discuss the feminist and queer politics of the internet, using their respective projects Contra-Internet and Wages for Facebook to illustrate the strategies of resistance to some of the dominant or clichéd narratives within gender and the net.

The conversation will be moderated by Dr. Nadja Millner-Larsen, Lecturer in Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths University.
